ÄLVORNAS STRAND / ELVENS BEACH

Elvens beach is an urban audiovisual artwork with the aim of highlighting the stories that are embedded in the city of Gothenburg through AR technology and parkour sculptures. The stories are the basis for how we are linked with other residents or visitors to the city, they effect how and what places we move in. How can we enrich sites with experiences and get people to move beyond their usual track and experience new areas? to do mind parkour or as a parkour athlete jump over physical barriers too? How do we create places where people feel they are involved in the stories and that their own stories matter?

Elvens beach want to use the city as a board game and test arena for artistic communication and encourage physical activity. The stories build bridges, not only across the channel but also over the mental distances and obstacles in Gothenburg. The project is based on collaborations and collected stories and built prototypes. We had a small opening ceremony at the Gothenburg Stadstriennal September 17, 2015 when the focus was to link the Frihamnen and Masthuggskajen areas. The next public event was the International Science Festival, April 13 to 17, 2016. The hub of the project was then hosted at the Epic Unidragon game gallery until 2017.

Elvens beach is produced by Collaboratory/Future City Lab in collaboration with the sports organization Stampede, and interested parties. Paintings are made Erik Jakobsson.

Älvornas strand är ett urbant audiovisuellt konstverk med syfte att lyfta fram berättelserna som finns inbäddade i Göteborg, genom AR teknik och fysiska parkour skulpturer. Berättelserna ligger till grund för hur vi sammanlänkas med andra boende eller besökare i staden och de påverkar hur och vilka platser vi rör oss på. Älvornas strand vill använda staden som spelplan och testyta för konstnärlig kommunikationsteknik och uppmuntra till fysisk aktivitet. Berättelserna bygger broar, inte bara över kanalen utan även över de mentala avstånd och hinder som finns i Göteborg.Vi hade en invigning under Göteborgs Stadstriennal den 17 september 2015 då fokus var att sammanlänka Frihamnen och Masthuggskajen. Sen var det Vetenskapsfestivalen den 13-17 april 2016, och däremmellan har projektet funnits på galleriet Epic Unidragon som låg på Masthuggskajen till 2017.
